Greetings
from
Maryland!
The first leg of our trip to
Maryland
started a bit
rough.
College
Park
was hit by a storm
which took out power for almost 1 and ½ days. Within 10 minutes upon arrival, a
micro-burst hit the town leaving a path of downed signs, trees and
power lines. But the
National Team made the best of things. We bought flashlights and glow
sticks to see in the dark rooms and halls of the hotel. It was like a campout without the
tents. Without power
and internet access, we couldn’t post results ... Until
now.
The National Team began
with a strong start at Y Nationals. Sara Pardue started us off on
Monday night, swimming the mile in 18:46.35
(27th)
On Tuesday, Erin Sivak swam
the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:11.70 (87th), Meg
Beese swam a 1:11.18 (74th) and Rachael Loek swam a
1:12.51 (116th).
Sara Pardue swam the 400
Free with a time of 4:47.24 (49th), and Allison Pavlik
swam the 200 IM in 2:32.23 (49th).
Rachael Loek swam the 50
Free with a time of 29.85 (138th), Mary Claire Webb swam
a 28.49 (39th) and Allison Pavlik swam a 28.47
(38th).
The last event was the 200
Medley Relay – Rachael Loek, Allison Pavlik,
Susan Peinsipp
and Mary Claire
Webb. They finished
with a time of 2:11.27 (48th).
